Aerobic Exercise is Good for Brain

Aerobic exercise is good for your cardiovascular health and may help keep your brain healthy, as well.  A small study enlisted sedentary people ages 57 to 75 to work out on either a stationary bike or a treadmill for one hour three times a week.  After three months, the participants not only showed improvements in their cardiovascular health but also improved their baseline scores on memory tests.  They also scored better than a control group who didn't exercise.  Researchers said that MRI scans performed on the exercise group showed increased blood flow to the cognitive function areas of the brain.
