ARE YOU SITTING TOO MUCH?

Prolonged sitting every day appears to increase the risk of several health issues, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In recent research, being sedentary has also been linked to a greater risk of premature death. Studies have been inconsistent about whether exercise can offset the negative effects of prolonged sitting. However, new research seems to show that 60 to 75 minutes a day of moderate exercise or activity (e.g. brisk walking) may help counter the increased risks and eliminate the risk of premature death linked to sitting more than 8 hours a day.
