Coffee & Liver Cancer Risk

Posted: 05.13.2014

There appears to be an association between coffee consumption and reduced risk of liver cancer.  Data from a new review indicates that drinking three cups of coffee a day may lower the risk of liver cancer by 50%.  Coffee's favorable effect may be because it can help prevent diabetes, a known risk factor in the development of liver cancer.  Coffee also has a beneficial effect on cirrhosis and liver enzymes.  Experts caution that the review only revealed an association, not a cause-and-effect relationship.
