GRATITUDE IS GOOD FOR THE HEART

A grateful attitude is good for your heart, suggests a new study. Researchers asked 186 people, average age 66, to fill out a survey rating how grateful they felt in their lives. The more grateful people were, the less inflammation and less plaque buildup they had in their arteries. In a follow-up study, experts tested patients for heart disease markers such as inflammation and heart rhythm problems. Then they asked half the group to write in a journal 2 to 3 things a day for which they were grateful. After 8 weeks, they retested them and found the journal keepers had a reduction in inflammation and improved heart rhythms.
