MAGNESIUM & DIABETES

Posted: 05.24.2018
Consuming foods rich in magnesium may lower your risk of type 2 diabetes, according to a 28-year study of 200,000 adults. Participants who got the most magnesium from food and supplements had a 15% reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to those who ate the least. The women in the "most" group recorded getting about 410 mg/day surpassing the RDA of 320 mg. Men typically got 470 mg., also higher than the 420 mg of the RDA. Some foods rich in magnesium include whole grains, green leafy vegetables, legumes and nuts. This study doesn't prove cause and effect, just an association.
