Dance is a great form of exercise that offers many benefits, according to current research. Dance may be good for your mood; it's been shown to reduce anxiety, depression and stress and increase a sense of well-being. An analysis of 27 studies on dance movement therapy's effectiveness recommends it be a part of treatment for anxiety and depression. Other research shows dancing may help those with Parkinson's disease. One study found that interval waltzing improved heart and blood vessel function in people with chronic heart failure as much as a moderate aerobic exercise program.
