Prevent Hearing Loss

Exercising and maintaining a healthy weight may help prevent hearing loss, according to a new study.  Women with a waistline of 35 inches or more or who had a BMI (body mass index) over 30 had a 25% greater risk of hearing loss over a 20-year period than thin women.  Also, the most physically active women had a 17% reduced risk compared to the least active women.  Another study found that women who ate seafood (all types) at least twice a week had a 20% lower risk of hearing loss than those who consumed fish less than once a month.  These studies don't prove a cause-and-effect relationship, only an association.
