Preventing Dry Skin
The most common cause of itching is dry skin. To avoid drying out your skin, use warm, not hot, water when bathing or showering. Try to keep time spent doing this to under 10 minutes. The goal is to preserve the natural oils in your skin. Use milder soaps; avoid harsh antibacterial and deodorant soaps. Don't scrub too hard with a washcloth or when toweling dry. When drying off, leave your skin a little moist by gently patting it with a towel. Apply moisturizing lotion immediately to trap some moisture in your skin. Some lotions include sunscreen, which protects your skin from harmful UV rays when you go outdoors.
