SYMPTOMS OF PAD

Posted: 05.15.2017
Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a condition in which plaque builds up in the arteries. It usually affects the arteries that supply blood to the legs. Narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the legs and can cause pain and numbness. Other symptoms may include cramping, pain or tiredness in leg or hip muscles when walking or climbing stairs, toe or foot wounds that won't heal, decreased temperature of lower leg compared to the rest of the body, and erectile dysfunction, especially in those with diabetes. PAD should not be ignored; it raises risk of stroke, heart disease and sometimes loss of limbs.
