TEA LINKED TO STRONGER BONES

Posted: 02.1.2016
Drinking three or more cups of black tea each day may help keep bones strong and reduce the risk of fracture, according to a recent study. Researchers followed about 1,200 women in their 70's for 10 years and found that those who drank three cups or more of tea a day had a 30% reduced risk of fracture compared to those women who drank little or no tea. Even one cup of tea a day reduced risk of fracture by 9%. Experts say that compounds in tea called flavonoids, found in plant foods, may be responsible for the benefit. Previous research has linked both black and green tea with higher bone mineral density.
