THE SPICE OF LIFE

Posted: 04.20.2016
Eating spicy foods may light your mouth on fire and make you sweat, but it may also be good for your health and help you live longer. A recent analysis of a health database of almost a half-million people revealed that those who reported eating spicy foods (usually in the form of chili peppers) 3 to 7 day a week were 14% less likely to have died compared to those who seldom consumed spicy foods. When researchers looked at specific causes of death, eating spicy foods was associated with a reduced risk of death from cancer, heart disease and respiratory diseases. This is only an association and doesn't prove a cause-and-effect relationship.
