Exercise regularly; it can reduce risk of dementia by 30-40%.  Include resistance training in your workout; in a recent study, women with mild cognitive impairment had improved memory after strength training.  Learn new skills; this stimulates growth of new brain cells.  Reduce stress; stress has been linked to brain shrinkage, which can affect memory.  Eat a heart-healthy diet.  Be social; this protects against dementia by providing emotional and mental stimulation.  Get your vitamins, especially B-12; people with B-12 deficiencies scored lowest on cognitive tests.  Pursue a purpose in life; this can reduce your risk of Alzheimer's.
