TIPS TO RESIST JUNK FOOD

Don't let yourself get too hungry; this heightens the reward center response in your brain to any food cues you see. Try not to drink your calories; sweetened drinks, including sodas, teas and specialty coffee drinks add calories that may not "register" and don't help you eat less. When you are hungry between meals, have healthy snacks such as carrots, hummus, fruit and nuts readily available. Avoid sweets, which stimulate the reward center of the brain. They cause an internal war (e.g., "I'm only going to eat a little bite, but oh, I want more."), and mustering up the willpower can be exhausting. Reduce stress; it weakens the "stop-eating" signal.
