Vitamin D Deficiency & Fibromyalgia
People with fibromyalgia who also have low blood levels of vitamin D
may receive some benefit from supplementation. In a recent study of
women with fibromyalgia who were deficient in vitamin D, researchers
gave some of the women vitamin D supplements for 25 weeks and then
tracked them for another 24 weeks. The women who received the
supplements reported less morning fatigue and pain than those who didn't
take the vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to chronic
pain in previous studies. Consult with your doctor before starting
supplementation.
