Warning Signs of DVT

Posted: 09.9.2014

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a serious and possibly life-threatening condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein deep in the leg.  The clot could break free and travel to your lungs or heart.  Warning signs may include swelling in one or both legs, pain or tenderness in the leg (especially when standing and walking), warmth in the skin of the affected leg, redness or discoloration, coughing blood, shortness of breath or pain when breathing.  Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms.
